Ian and his staff have been congratulated on their professional approach to the needs of our members and guests. As a result of their efforts, the Club has had a very rewarding and enjoyable season.

Once again, the Club is indebted to Chris Nesbit and his staff for servicing the Club’s temprite – this unit provides our members with the best beer in town.

Financial support $5000 – was forwarded to the Lorne Community Hospital to help with expenses incurred in fitting out the new Accommodation Quarters.

Lorne local, Michael Callahan (Camel) has had many months of poor health due to his heart transplant. Your committee will be presenting $1000 on Easter Sunday to Lorne’s fundraising efforts for Camel.

  1. Fishing Competitions

The Australia Day fishing competition was well supported with 23 fisher persons trying their luck. Only 9 fish were weighed in of a mixed variety. The winning senior fish was a whiting and the junior winning fish was a bream. Some new members enjoyed the experience and shared in a great lunch.

Many thanks to Western Insurance Brokers – Colac, for your sponsorship.

Our next Major Fishing Competition will be held on Sunday 8th March – lines down at 6.00am.

Sponsors for the day will be Lorne Breakdown & Towing.

  1. Grey Redevelopment

“For over six years many club members have devoted time and energy to assist the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee with the creation of draft plans which are representative of community wishes for this iconic precinct.

After numerous consultation meetings and public forums, we are now all awaiting the release of the

Final Draft Plans for Pt. Grey. The scheduled timeline is for these to be released early in 2015.

The Lorne Aquatic & Angling Club will be a stand- alone building, occupying a footprint in a

similar position to our current site.

Your committee hopes that any development will be a ‘staged build’ and that the commercial

component and maritime square will be stage 1 and our beloved community hub will be redeveloped

as stage 2.” (website release) Members will receive an email re sub committee structure shortly.

See the Point Grey Development Page for update!!!
